It's over

The Barleycorn is gone. October 27th was the last night of business for our beloved 'Corn. We put up the best fight we could, but to no avail: Ms. Luisa Hanson got what she wanted; the demise of an almost forty year old neighborhood institution.

To the thousands who signed the petition, volunteered, helped spread the word, and showed your support in countless ways: Thank you! You made it all worthwhile.

Looking ahead, it'll be very interesting indeed to see what Ms. Hanson has in mind for 1415 Larkin Street. Judging by the eyesore that is the former Front Room—vacant since March—there is little reason for optimism. We'll be watching.
