Tales

Here is a collection of tall tales from the wee hours.

Told by Tony on December 22, 2006

San Francisco legend Herb Caen recorded one of our favorite Barleycorn stories in his column from May 1st, 1986 -- the column itself is framed and hangs on the wall of the bar:

". . . An unidentified customer left a brown paper bag containing the cremated remains of Mr. Noah Fimple on the bar of the John Barleycorn Pub on Larkin a few nights ago; it is now in the storeroom while Mgr. Ed O'Leary tried desperately to locate a relative of the late Mr. Fimple (the bag also contains a permit to scatter his remains in Monterey) . . ."

-- Don't fret, Mr. Fimple was eventually transported to his final resting grounds.
